補綴治療の目的には,歯 の喪失によって低下 した口腔 機能の回復がある。欠損部 と残存歯の状態,欠 損様式等 の種々の状況 を十分 に考慮 した うえで,架 橋義歯,可 撤 式義歯,イ ンプラン ト等により口腔機能の回復を行 う。 しかし,顎 堤が低位 あるいはまた狭小な場合は,補 綴治 療のみで口腔機能の回復 を行 うことが困難 なことも多 い。 このような症例においては,補 綴治療の前処置とし て,骨 移植やGBR法 等の外科的手法を用いて顎堤の増 量が行われている。現在,こ れらの手法によって顎堤 を 増量 させ ることは可能ではあるが,よ り効率が良 く,簡 便かつ確実な顎堤の増量法の開発が望まれている。 元来生体 には自己修復力がある。両生類のイモリにお いては,四 肢や顎を切断除去 して も完全に再生復元す る ことが知 られてお り,イ モリには強力な自己修復力があ る...
